Who we are and where we're from: A guide to living in the Cape Fear region

Arts and Entertainment Section, pg. 82
Leslie Pearson, oil painter

Q: Where are you from?
A: Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Q: What brought you to Fayetteville?
A: My husband is in the Army. Actually, I was in the Army for a little while myself, based at Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga. When I got out, I moved here to be with my husband.

Q: When?
A: About two years ago (2004).

Q: What was your first impression of Fayetteville?
A: I had a good impression. I like the downtown area. They’re making a lot of efforts toward embracing the arts. When I approached the galleries, they were eager to see my art.

Q: What is your lasting impression of Fayetteville?
A: I’m impressed with the way the community is made up of such a diverse group of people because of Fort Bragg. Some people don’t have family here; the whole community becomes your family.
