Essentially, my work is autobiographical. I use textiles, video, sculpture, photography, painting, leatherwork, and text as vehicles for communicating my personal history and Christian faith. The imagery represents my thoughts about freedom, femininity, identity, overcoming personal limitations, and finding strength in things often considered weak or vulnerable. The act of making art—the process of making things with my hands and exploring new materials—is often more significant to me than the final product. Repetitive handwork becomes a ritual and performance that I feel compelled to document, so I can experience it over and over again.
